The food

Healthy and delicious meals are cooked and served in the cottage (or the steading): a substantial brunch after the morning class and a three course meal with wine* in the evening. The emphasis is on fresh local produce as far as possible. Meals will only be strictly vegetarian if this is specifically requested, otherwise they will include some fish and locally raised meat. All diets can be catered for, please specify your requirements on booking.

Brunch consists of home-made muesli, home-made bread, home-made preserves and a hot dish such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or poached eggs on spinach.

Dinner menus have included starters such as spicy green soup or beetroot and goats cheese salad.  Main courses include dishes such as salmon baked with a crunchy topping, root vegetable crumble, dahl with spinach, moghlai chicken and moroccan lamb stew.  Typical desserts include rhubarb fool with almond biscuits, lemon mousse and tarte tatin.

Guests can help themselves to tea and coffee, juices, fruit, ham and cheese and bread and spreads throughout the day.

Janet trained in Copenhagen and previous students have raved about the food, especially her Scandinavian uncooked marmalade.
